Neon Color-Blocked Nails

Step one:

Paint your base color. This will also be the bottom color. Let it dry completely.

Step two:

Place circle stickers on your finger and line it up according to your desired proportion of color.

Step three:

Pick your contrasting color and paint it on the top part of your nails right above the circle sticker .

Step four:

Allow the nail polish to dry completely before peeling off the sticker.

Step five:

Add any decorative designs you want or simply just apply a top coat when you're finished! Voila

On my left hand, I used a neon pink base coat from PIXI in Summer Pink, and on my right I used the beige neutral polish from Julep in Pippa. I decided to fix the uneven result with a black nail art pen (Sallie Hansen), and I got carried away, and decided to design peter pan collared shirts on my nails. ( I am totally digging the peter pans right now).

Ootd

I paired up a orange colored sheer hi-low shirt with the BDG jeggings I recently bought at Urban Outfitters. I wore my geometric shaped cut out booties and carried my taupe purse. I had a hard time finding outerwear to go with this outfit. I have a a lot of neutral shade going on, AND I also had a lot of neutral jackets, but none of them really went with well together with my outfit! I had this problem last time as well. I need to decide how, and what color outwear I can pull off.

Scrubbing it

Everytime I wear this printed long sleeve shirt, I get so many comments at work about how they thought from afar that I had my arms tatted up. Seriously...even people who have seen me in this  many times before, continue to get psyched out. My shirt is a peach color, so I guess from faaaaaaaaar away it could pass for flesh color or..... people just have poor vision :)

Babysitting Kinda Day

I've got the little ones today. My nephews are 5 and 2... Almost 6 and 3. Tues are usually my designated day with them. Noah (5) gets out of kindergarten early I'm tues, and I usually try to do fun things with them. We played UNO and and dodge ball .

Evan (2) had to take a nap and the pictures you see are of him falling asleep on me.

I don't get accessorized when I'm with the little guys. And I always carry a crossbody bag.

I also don't always have my hair or make done. I was inspired to photoblog even on my not-so-cute days. Trying to keep it real!

Another late post and another 14 hr shift. I clocked out at 3:30 am but I stuck around til 5am to "hang out". I drove home and was able to see the sun rise! Beautiful :)

Scrubbing at Work day 3

Please note these photos were not all taken while I was work. And if they were, I was on my lunch break. :)

I barely have time to run to the restroom to pee so snapping photos of myself while I'm working is completely not doable, not to mention very wrong and kinda weird!

On a different note I've been enjoying my hunt for cool blogging or photo/video apps for my iPhone! I feel good that I'm actually using my phone for more than just texting :)

Scrubbing at Work day 2

I wear a lot of headbands. It's become a signature look of mine at work. It's a great conversation starter and I really feel it brightens up the mood in such a gloomy atmosphere.

Maybe to some, I look silly, or cute or weird or retro.. But I dig it. It's a fun way for me to jazz up my getup. Folks at work call me Pocahontas, hippie girl, Indian chick, Rambo etc..

Here is my work attire from yesterday. Sorry I'm a day late! I had an exhausting 14 hr shift last night and I was beyond exhausted.

Scrubbing at Work day 1

I am late on posting this! It's almost 4am but I just got back from work an hr ago.

I thought I would upkeep the daily posting and show you guys daily looks despite that the fact that I'm not wearing anything cool or trendy.

Here is how I look for work:

Rainy Days

So it turned out that rain did happen yesterday. But way after I had blogged! And today, I looked out my window before getting dressed. It was sprinkling.  :)

On days where the weather is dreary and the air is moist, I'll either typically be seen in a hat of some sort, or my hair is tied up or clipped back. It's not worth spending time to make your hair look pretty, when it's just going to look like crap really fast.

I am wearing a off-white tshirt with black leggings and a cropped black blazer. I kept the colors muted so I could bring out the pop of purple in my purse.  I love my rain boots from Gilt. The ribbon ties in the back make the olive green boot a bit more feminine, but also edgy because the black ribbons mimics a the ties of a corset. To upkeep the edge, I chose black and silver to accessorize with.

I kept the make up to a minimal. I wanted to balance the edginess with a softer face.

Fashion on a Whim

I discovered that being fancy, just got easier! I'm talking about photo editing. I downloaded an app on my iPhone. It's the BeFunkyFx app, and it was free, fun to use, and so easy! I'm really excited about that! It's no photoshop, but you can play around with the different colorings of your photo, whether you want it vibrant or dull. It's def a step up from what I had been doing a couple days ago, which was nothing. But it doesn't take up a lot of time at all. It really was that easy!

Today's look was really not well thought out. I was in a rush to get my mom to her doctor's appt. So I grabbed whatever I saw first. I guess the end result ended up to be an equestrian look? Or a nerdy retro look? I'm not sure. It can be whatever you want to call it. I'm not particularly fond or proud of this getup, but it is what it is!

My 2 yr old nephew tooks this photo.

He also took this one.

.....and this one!

I heard on tv last night that rain was in the forecast today, so without thinking to look outside my window, I dressed for the cold. My blue cowl neck short sleeve chunky sweater with a long sleeve henely tee underneath. I don't remember where I purchased them, but I've had them for at least 6 years! I have brown driving gloves on, that I had bought a while ago on Hautelook, but I never had the chance to wear them. I'm still debating if I like it together with the boots. My pants are new from Urban Outfitters. I dare say these are the most comfortable pants I own! They look like denim, but they don't feel like them. I think the correct terminology here is, "jegging" leggings that look like jeans.  My gifted, most favorite, most comfortable pair of boots, Cole Haan.

I enlisted the help of my nephew to take 3 of those photos. He's 2. And I think he did a great job!  I told him to take a close up photo of my boots, and while he completely missed the top portion, I do love the angle in which he took it at. I then asked him to take a picture of "my whole body from head to toe". And while I wasn't centered in the picture at all, the picture came out great! Not me, but from an artistic tune, it's fantastic how the vanishing points fade into the distance! I LOVE it! I high 5'd him afterward.  Quite impressive from a 2 yr old.

P.S. It didn't rain today afterall.

Focus on Fuchsia

While most people are gravitating toward spring's coral and turquoise trend, I've got my eyes on fuchsia. I adore the vibrancy of this color. It's not quite red, too intense to be pink, and too red and pink to be purple. It's a color that makes me feel ALIVE. Is that weird? I associate emotions to colors. But it's true.

Fuchsia is also quite flattering on my "Winter" complexion. I know we're into Spring right now, but my coloring still says Winter. (However, I'm not this ghostly in person. I'm not sure why I look so washed out in these photos.) While I'm getting a bit more color in my skin now, it's not nearly deep enough to pull off coral just yet. I usually sport the corals during the Summer when I am more tanned, or as I like to call it, a darker shade of light.  :)

The popular choice for color blocking with fuchsia this Spring is to pair it with orange and yellow. So here is my rendition of it in another "self photography" session.

I'll start top-down. When you're wearing bold colors as a top and bottom, like I am in these photos, it's a good idea to keep the face neutral. I made the mistake of using a dark blue to line my eyes. I thought it would be a cool twist, but I realized it's a bit much. And too much color going on, leaves me looking like a confused girl who's trying too hard. I think it's a better idea to keep the eyes to a bare minimum, and line them with pencil or eye shadow to avoid having a stark line from liquid or gel eye liners. I do however, feel that the bright lips are appropriate. And this particular one was gifted to me by my friend, Kryzia. I looooove this color! Thank you for my first YSL lippie :)
I am wearing a tight-fitted orange v-neck tshirt tucked into a pair of mid-rise fuchsia shorts.  FYI, mid-rise as well as high-waisted bottoms are great for elongating my legs. High heels, or wedges also do wonders to give off the illusion of longer legs. I decided on buckled wedges to give it a more relaxed feel. I felt I needed to balance off the bright lips, because bright lips always gives off that "all made up" appearance even if you're eyes are bare. It's instant glamor in a tube, really.
Yes, they really are goosebumps!

I chose to accessorize with gold, white, and pink.  Warm tones like orange look richer when paired with gold. Also, gold and yellow are in the same family, so it's okay to have them together in this palette.  But I wouldn't introduce anymore new colors. (refer to the above comment on my dark blue eye liner.) But then again, I'm not a fashion expert. I just like what I like. So you can style however you wish! Fashion is whatever you perceive it to be. Just have fun :)
